Summerhill Assisted Living Hosts Raylynmor Opera
Peterborough, N.H.: On a Saturday in late spring, Summerhill Assisted Living & Memory Care Community hosted the Peterborough-based Raylynmor Opera as the company rehearsed The Barber of Seville, which it performed the following Friday and Sunday at the Peterborough Players’ theatre. The company concluded its 24th season by premier-ing a new English libretto faithfully adhering to Rossini’s music, while setting the opera in the 1990s.
The rehearsal day at Summerhill, at 183 Old Dublin Road, was held in its Monadnock Room. It was open for residents to listen, and enjoy, the vocalists and their orchestral accompaniment. Some residents are opera lovers; for others, this was a new experience. The staff and residents have created their own community at Summerhill. “We broaden our connections with the larger community by inviting organizations and individuals who benefit from the use of our space to provide our residents with enriching experiences,” said Executive Director, Mary Pat Jackson.
Whether its participating in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Keene, or by giving pies residents have baked to the Peterborough Police and Fire & Rescue departments, Summerhill shows its community support in a variety of ways.
At all levels of care, Summerhill Assisted Living provides comfortable and secure assisted living options that allow residents to enjoy independence and privacy, while receiving the support they need. They are engaged and encouraged by a wide range of recreational and social activities; and skilled and compassionate staff provide them with services that include chef-prepared meals, laundry and transportation.
